Angelfish (Freshwater)
Angelfish are,
and always have been, an aquarium staple. Graceful lines and
movement have maintained the angelfish in high regard with fish
keeper.
The Angelfish or
"Scalare" (pterophyllum scalare), is native to South
America and the mighty Amazon river which runs through it. Several
varieties exist in nature mainly with coloration variations by
locals which they are found ( collected ) in. Another angel from the
wild is the "Altum" ( P. altum ), differing from the
scalare by being taller of stature and more pointed in form.
An early cross of
these two types was credited with the evolution of the vieltails we
enjoy today, other crosses of varieties has led to many color
varieties in todays market place, one of the most popular but most
difficult of these " sports " was and still is the black
type. Others which have become and maintained popularity are the
gold and platinum color well as half-black and lace, also zebra,
snakeskin, and marbled colors.
Majestic angelfish are derived
from carefully selected breeders sorted at an early age and raised
for quality selection and mating. As with all Majestic fish, premium
conditioning results in premium specimens. Breeding Stock often
available.
On occasion we import wild
stock (in season only) to enhance our genetic structures, so we do periodically have
some wild angels in stock, pre-orders on wild specimens is advised
for best selection and variety. All fish are conditioned prior to
shipment (delivery to you.) to assure transport success and your
satisfaction. |
